Difference between extender adapter for graphic card and graphic card

I'm not sure I've heard of anything called an extender adapter for a graphics card. But I presume it lengthens one of the connections. Either a power adapter to extend PCIe power cables, a PCIe extension cable, or an extension for one of the video outputs.

What is a graphics card? It is a device for producing a video signal that can be sent to and displayed on a monitor.
