gtx 1060 8-pin connector

So I was going to buy the gtx 1060 6gb but i noticed it has a 8-pin instead of a 6-pin connector. My psu doesn't have an 8-pin PCI-E connector. Is it fine if I plug in the 6-pin and will it work? Will performance be the same? Or should I buy a new power supply?

This is my psu: 500 W psu FSP500-60APN

Technically the extra ground wires are used to handle more power to stabilise factory overclocks. Using only 6pin the card won't operate. Can use a 6 to 8 pin adapter but with that PSU i wouldn't risk it.

Better off going for a 6pin 1060 model.

Many cards that need an 8 pin connector will come with a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter cable.
Your psu is fine, and has the power sufficient for a GTX1060.

Check the photos on the newegg listing for the card you will buy.
You should be able to see if it comes with such an adapter.
