I just ordered a gtx 1080 msi gaming x it’s coming tomorrow I’m upgrading from amd rx 580 4gb msi armor oc and the amd has 8 pin connecter only. The gtx 1080 has 6 pin and 8 pin u need will my 8 pin work with gtx 1080 or what do I buy?

What make and model psu do you have, this is very important.

You need to connect both 6 and 8 pins. If your PSU does not have both this is a sign of a low quality psu that you need to change.
