Hello all,

I just finished a build with a Gigabyte B360 HD3 board with an i5-8600 CPU. When I power it on, I get 5 short beeps (CPU error). I have tried resetting the CMOS and unplugging everything from the board except the power, but I'm still getting the error.

Before I RMA the CPU, are there any other tricks I should try?

Thanks

Solution

I had the exact same problem except with an I5 8400 CPU.

For me it was the Bios (F4). I unplugged the power to my Graphics card and booted up using the onboard graphics. I then upgraded the Bios using the Windows Program from F4 to F6.

I reconnected the power to my card and it all works perfectly now.

Nothing looks amiss, but I can get my hands on another board shortly, so I should know if that is the issue.

UPDATE: Turns out the motherboard was bad, just like you suggested. Thanks a ton!
