OK so I had my OS on my SSD. One night my PC froze and when I restarted it it got stuck on the flashing underscore. I tried to install OS onto a different drive but windows installer drive wouldn't boot up. I took the SSD out and the drive booted just fine.
Installed the OS and tried to boot with SSD in the system but it got stuck on the same flashing underscore even after changing the boot drive in bios.
I have some files I need to access from that ssd . does anyone know how I could get them off?(I tried to use the sata to usb cage I have but it wouldn't recognize the drive)

Well it does sound like the SSD sadly went wrong.
You can turn your SSD into a hot swappable drive.
Please research it a bit more, but what you can do is make sure AHCI is turned on in your computer
Make sure POWER is going to the SSD that is damaged/faulty.
When windows is ON, you can then plug in the SATA to the damaged SSD and Windows may recognise it.

so after changing the settings in bios ive launched and plugged the drive in, it made the sound of the new device connecting. however it didn't show up in the drives list. ive tried to launch a partition assistant i have installed and it wouldn't load until i unplugged the drive again, tried launching the assistant and then plugging it in, and it completely froze the program
