One DisplayPort Active?

Hey all. I posted this in the Display section, but hasn't had more than 3 views, so I'm hoping here is better.

I recently go a GTX 980 as an upgrade. It has 3 DisplayPort outputs, I currently have 2 DVI-D monitors, and one HDMI TV. Soon I'll be upgrading the monitors, which will be HDMI inputs, but that's irrelevant right now.

The problem I'm having is, via DisplayPort, only one monitor is showing at a time, so whichever monitor I plug in last, shows, and the rest go black with no signal. Anyone know what's going on? I've tried hitting detect on Windows Display Settings, but nothing happens, I'm a little lost. With 3 ports, I'd imagine I'm not limited to just using one DisplayPort at a time..

Thanks in advance.

Solution
I would suggest uninstalling the display drivers and reinstalling again, and if that doesn't work, flash the card's BIOS. It has to be software/firmware related as each port obviously works on it's own.

If I had to guess what's happening, when a monitor is plugged in, it sends a message to the card telling it what it is and it's capabilities (this is called EDID), for some reason the card is applying this to all monitors, so only the last to report in (be plugged in) is being supported.

Hey Pete, thanks for the reply.

That seems the only feasible explanation, certainly doesn't seem right. Now I'm not what I'd class as a noob, but could you explain what you mean by flashing the cards bios? I'm certainly not that experienced to know haha.

I'll get the display ports plugged in again now, and reinstall the drivers. Hopefully that works as I've not yet tried, if not, I'll follow your lead on the card bios.

Well would you believe it.. Reinstalling drivers worked.. What an earth is that about. All up and running now haha. Thanks dude! :)

You're welcome. All sorts of things can happen, mostly during installation, that can screw up the drivers.

The next step I mentioned of Flashing the BIOS, means to install a new version of the card's BIOS, not 100% sure why it's called "flashing" but it is, and if you screw it up then your card is left without a BIOS and is unusable. So it's almost a last resort process, usually it goes without a hitch, but if you don't need to do it then don't :)
