Portable radio loses battery power very fast

Have a Sangean pocket radio that's about 2 years old and the batteries lose their juice in a couple hours. These are AAA alkaline or similar replaceable batteries I'm talking about. Not rechargeable ones. I remember the same thing happened with a Sony pocket radio I had before that. Is this a known issue with electronics?

The quality of the batteries and the amount of time you use the radio are the key factors. My Sangean radio is quite thrifty when it comes to battery consumption, but I don't use on battery power more than 30-60 minutes a day.

Ive had an older model of this cheap thing for almost 2 years now. It's actually pretty great for the price. Rechargeable and lasts for at least 18 holes of bad golf.
