My mobo is in the shop for repairs so I looked up and saw something cheap I can potentially buy for a replacement while I'm without the board. There is a couple motherboards that were repaired by replacing cpu sockets.

How safe is it to run a board that had been repaired by swapping cpu socket? Any risk of damaging my components long-term ?

Probably not worth it. The boards are iffy at best and each time you replace the board, you are potentially looking at reinstalling Windows.

depends on how good they were from the start, why they needed replacement and how well it was "replaced". Can you talk to shop and ask around? if anything feels fishy I would not go for it. In general things like thatm if they play open cards, and tell you why and when, it should be safe.
