Over the span of about 4 - 5 days, Avast has alerted me of a threat called rayjump trying to get into my computer. This has only happened twice so far.

It will tell me it's been blocked, but as far as I know, I have not gone anywhere malicious and the only thing I've downloaded for the past month was the !Hola VPN I downloaded to chrome two days ago.

I've tried scanning with Avast and found nothing, I'm not entirely sure where to find it to get rid of it.

Are there any suggestions?
Thanks!

It's really interesting, but I downloaded Malwarebytes and scanned - it didn't pick up anything at all.
I guess, maybe avast finally deleted it??

I've used bitdefender before, a few years back, but for some reason, it really ate at my resources D:
I may try looking back into it though, thank you!

if you are still having an issue

delete and re-install chrome - as chrome will try to pre-fetch web content (the trick it uses to make you think it is fast), there could be a nasty web link somewhere inside, av wont find something that isn't on your pc.

It turns out, after looking around at it IS the Hola VPN.

After another avast pop up today (it wasn't rayjump this time, it was something else), I did end up tracing it back to the vpn and have since deleted it.

I do thank both of you for helping me out, though!

SammuH -- glad you were able to track this down and that Avast is helping keep you safe :)

For future detections, you might want to check the Components settings in Avast, and look at "Actions."

Here, you can configure what happens when a threat is detected, whether you are notified or not, and what Avast does to resolve the infection (e.g., delete it, quarantine it, or ask you for your preference)
