Hello forum users,
I have a high-end gaming pc but the graphics/quality is terrible! except Battlefield 1 is running smoothly at Ultra settings.

Will GTA V graphics are bad the only way to get it much better is enabling Frame Scaling Mode (it can't handle the highest frame scaling cause very lag) one or two running better but still lagging!

PC hardware:
Graphics card: GTX 1080Ti (11GB GDDR5X) Nvidia-GeForce
CPU: Intel Core i9-7900X, 3.3GHz, 14MB, S2066
Cooler: be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim + Cooler Master MasterGel Pro + 6 Be Quit fans
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB(8x8GB) 2133MHz CL13
Motherboard: Asus TUF X299 Mark 2
Power: 650W Corsair VS650
Overclock: No but BIOS overlock is possible at 39% seems a bit better.

Monitor HDMI: 1920x1080 - Samsung S27D390H 27-Inch Screen LED Monitor

GTA Settings below:

NVidia recommended settings!
Screen Type: Fullscreen (GTA V startups bordless need ALT + ENTER to start in fullscreen mode)
Resolution: 1920x1080
Aspect Ratio: Auto

FXAA: Off
MSAA: x4
Population Density: Max 100%
Population Variety: Max 100%
Distance Scaling: Max 100%
Texture Quality: Auto
Shader Quality: Very High
Shadow Quality: Very High
Reflection Quality: Ultra
Reflection MSAA: x8
Water Quality: Very High
Grass Quality: Ultra
Soft Shadows: NVIDIA PCSS
Post FX: Ultra
In-Game depth of Field Effects: On
Anisotropic Filtering: x16
Ambient Occlusion: High
Tessellation: Very High

Advanced Graphics:
Long Shadows: On
High Resolution Shadows: On
High Detail Streaming While Flying: On
Extended Distance Scaling: Max
Extended Shadows Distance: Max
Frame Scaling Mode: Off

NVIDIA Multi-Frame Sampled Anti-aliasing: off

GTA V at these settings is not lagging but very bad graphics and in-game quality!
HELP

I don't think you'll need to uninstall the driver unless you aren't using the latest version and want to compare it. People whom buy the 1080 Ti are very discerning about image quality, I'll pass it off as that and not taking best advantage of settings options. Do note as well that GTA V's daytime scenes don't look nearly as good as the nighttime scenes.

With a GPU that powerful I would run it at 4K DSR. You can enable this in Nvidia Control Panel under Manage 3D Settings. Just check all the DSR Factors boxes and all DSR resolutions will show in every game's res menu. https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3587/~/how-to-enable-dynamic-super-resolution-in-games.

You can experiment with DSR res and AA if you're needing more FPS. The higher the DSR res, the less AA you need. Also, turn off In-Game Depth of Field Effects, it blurs a lot more than just out of focus objects while aiming. Lastly, with Post FX at Very High or Ultra, it adds motion blur. Set it to High for a sharper look.

https://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/grand-theft-auto-v-pc-graphics-and-performance-guide#grand-theft-auto-v-in-game-depth-of-field-effects

Here's a very detailed example of the settings I mentioned. 4K DSR + FXAA will give sharpest object edges, but blur them slightly. Still worth it if you hate jagged edges, and at 4K res, the edge blurring is barely noticeable.

Skip to 4:52 for the GTA V demonstrations. Skip to 5:52 for 4K DSR + No AA vs 4K DSR + FXAA.

It's pretty hard to distinguish such differences without knowing what capture and compression bitrate you used. Like I said, GTA V's daytime scenes are more lackluster, and it's largely due to the way they do daytime lighting.

Also, YT uses a low bitrate when converting 1080p uploads. I'm not sure whether you're complaining about the way it looks on YT, or on your PC. If you look at most 1080p daytime YT uploads of GTA V though, yours is about normal.

What I do is take my 50Mb/s ShadowPlay captures and simultaneously compress to 20-30MB/s and resize to 1440p via Lanczos3 in Avidemux. I use 30Mb for detailed games like GRW, 20Mb for less detailed games like TEW.

When you do this YT will use 3-4 times the bitrate to convert your upload than it does for 1080p. I resisted doing this for a long time because I thought going that much higher res without the pixels to support it would just be blurrier.

The results however are quite good. It was so much better in GRW that I no longer got blur and pixealtion in the ground foliage when moving over it on foot or in vehicle. Even the smoke and dust doesn't blur or pixelate.

27” 1080p isn’t ideal anyway. With that 1080ti you should be using 1440p/144hz/gsync - anything less is wasting the potential of your gpu.

And yes you probably should overclock if your cooling solution is decent as that cpu is not particularly fast at stock.

You seem to complaining about nothing, the fact that you have all setting on their highest means it can't look any better, the problem you seem to be confusing is your resolution, GTA V won't appear much better than a PS4/XO1 as they are all HD res (1080p 1920x1080), if you were to go to 2k of 4k you would be displaying more pixels leading to a sharper looking picture.

So your restriction here is not your PC or the game it is your Samsung Monitor. Even with getting a 4k monitor colours may well still be different as monitors came in a variety of forms OLED/LCD and manufacturers have different specializations.

No the quality on your ps4 will be lower but not noticeably so as they are both at the same resolution and almost the same settings. The amount you spent on your PC doesn't matter its a game that came out 5 years ago that you are playing at 1080p, as a simile you are comparing watching an VHS on two similar screens and because you paid more for one are expecting iMax quality it's not going to happen.

Was wondering about the psu myself but that would be more framerate than image quality (I think).

OP, that psu is one of Corsair’s lowest models and not really suited to your components. Would think about changing that as one of your first upgrades.

Do you do something with on the side besides gaming? I ask because you said gaming machine but that’s not a gaming cpu, the ram should be 3000 or higher, and you’ve got too much of it. The bleendingest edge (that I’m aware of) only recommends 32gb and thats DCS F/A-18 and only for VR.

Basically, a sub-$2k pc can match or exceed your build in gaming performance. By the time you need that many threads or that much ram, advances in IPC, memory bandwidth, and peripheral connectivity will drive a whole platform upgrade. Not bashing, just advice for your next build.

Next, build? you are right I've upgraded all components except the PSU. and what else I do on the pc well just want a fast computer that can handle games in the background with being slow and running virtual machines. oh, and I had some money to spend ;)

It can't be too overpowered I say my self but the monitor and PSU are needs so thanks for that will buy later.
