So im decided on buying a new GPU since my R9 270X is getting old for me and giving me some problems lately (artifacts, etc).

Im deciding which GPU to buy between two models from EVGA (even with shipping costs they are better then the GPUs of each of their kind for their respective price point).

GTX 1080: https://eu.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-6181-KR

GTX 1070 Ti SC Gaming: https://eu.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-5671-KR

I know that a OC 1070 ti can get FE 1080 performance, but the 1080 can also overclock so idk if the 30 euro difference between them is worth it or not.

Also if anyone has any of these 2 models can you give an ideia of the max temps you achieved, what clocks, fan speeds, etc?

Thanks

Up to you but if I would need to choose 1070Ti and 1080 I would go for 1070Ti.
With OC it's overtaking the 1080 and the overclocking capabilties on the 1070Ti are better than on the 1080.

Plus the card is only 9 months old, which augments the value in 2 years for selling it.

Have a good one ;)

With the release of the RTX cards, I would not go for either of them.
1070Ti is 480€
2070 is 549€

So I would definitely spend the extra money as they are much faster than the 1000-series.

True, nVidia promise more photo-realistic game scene with real time ray tracing (RTRT) for certain games , but how well it'll be on other released games, nVidia don't tell. Among those games are Battlefield V, Shadow of the Tomb Rider, and Metro Exodus. Personally I like those trailers (more life-like object).

Not interested on the RTX series as I wont be able to afford them, nor will the 2070 be avaliable in the time frame I need to buy the GPU and the only reason I havent bought a card already is due to the fact that im on vacation right now until the beggining of september.

Also for who asked im on a Ryzen 5 1600 @3.7Ghz with a Hyper 212 Evo.

Im only upgrading my GPU and thats probably the only upgrade I'll do during the next 2-3 years (when I hopefully will build a new PC from scratch), screen tearing isn't an issue for me.

Also since the 1080 SC and the 1070Ti share the same tdp and ACX 3.0 cooler, you think the 1080 reviews are a good guideline of the temps and noise (since they even OC the card and I doubt the 1070 ti will need better cooling than the 1080)

Yes the card is locked at 1.093V but instead of giving you lot's of text here, you best go and check this one

https://www.overclockersclub.com/guides/gtx_1070ti_oc_guide/

It is probably the best you can find on the net and in as much detail as you can possibly want, if you have a question after that, let me know ;)

Thanks for the answer, instead of the EVGA card I can instead pick for roughly the same price on a local store the MSI armor 1070 Ti, but I dont know how great the cooling and noise is on that specific card.
