Hi, I've had a problem haunting me since I cleaned my PC to fabric new.
My wifi is extremely slow on PC, and I'm sure the problem is within the PC cause all other devices is working fine and also the PC has no problem with hotspot.

I have targeted some NEW anomalies (after the reboot):
-Slow downloading speed
-Disc is struggling since it's 100% active (task manager)
(It's not 100% when no action is made, but as fast as I play a game or something it go up to 100% and stay there for minutes after I stop playing, then it drop to 0%-15%)

After reading ALOT of threads on simular problem without any help I suspect I got a problem with my network card. I have one
that's called ''Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter''.
It's quite old yes, but the problem is very new and came after a specific action so I hope for a solution.
Also, I have Windows 8.1 if that will help.

I appreciate every effort to help! Thanks!
/Erik

No, I did not physically clean it. I did a factory reset, when you let your computer ''reset''/''start over'' just like when I just bought it.
But then the problems occured. Now I can't connect to WiFi, but connecting to hotspot is no problemo.

Very creative thinking I must say!

Guess I took your comment about cleaning too literally. Here we tend to get a lot of dust inside our computers and good cleaning every 3-4 years is warranted.

Clearly this is a software problem and my first guess is an issue with drivers. Perhaps it could be some software (antivirus with network security?) that didn't install properly. I would suspect the hard drive issue is also driver related. Have you looked at your device manager ... see any errors? Have you scanned the hard driver for errors?

Yes I've sweeped all units in device manager for any anomalies but nothing to be found. Also I did search for updates for every unit with no luck. The hard drive have been scanned as well.
I do also suspect the network adapter is not doing it's job, but I've search for updates, reinstalled it and also downloaded new drivers for my adapter and still no change :(

I really do appreciate you effort! <3

So I tested you theory by downloading and running throw my hard drive. Not a single test could identify a problem unfortunately.
You're right about my network, my home network is running smooth on every other device so the problem most be internal.
By this time I think I've tested every avaliable and downloadable network card driver (that HP says is compatible with my PC). Also reinstalled my network card and checked for updates both though device manager and windows update.

Update: My disc is no longer constantly 100%, but I started CS:GO and then it was a ''stable'' 68%-100% :/

My PC is making a minor noice that's also not normal, before this internet problem occured I only heard that sound whenever the computer is loading or processing a complex program. I hope that info can be of any use.

68%-100% is still too much.

Crazy idea ...
Open a command prompt and enter "powercfg.exe /hibernate off".
Now, set your swap file to zero (Control Panel - > System -> Advanced System settings -> Settings under performance - > Advanced tab -> Change under virtual memory -> Turn off automatic and select no paging file and hit set). This should be ok as long as you have more than 4 GB of RAM. Reboot the computer.
Do an error check and optimize hard drive (File Manager->This PC->right click your drive and click properties->select tools tab). This could take some time.
Reboot.
If you like your computer to hibernate, open a command prompt and enter "powercfg.exe /hibernate on"
Now go back to your swap file settings and select custom; initial 2000, maximum 2000. Set and reboot again.
Let us know if it helps.
