So now that the new RTX series are arriving, i was thinking about getting a 2080. My monitor only supports DVI / HDMI and VGA (Currently using DVI). The new RTX series only supports HDMI and Display port. I was wondering if an adapter from display port to DVI would be any good? I know it is possible, but do i lose anything from it? I am asking, because i would like to know if it is possible without any kind of loss, so i don't have to spend even more money on a new monitor.

Thanks.

Solution
Here is my answer i hope its will help you, because i have the same problem, and i got a solution wich is, You can get a Displayport -> DVI adapter, and its should run 144hz on 1080p ( You should make sure its dual link very important ) , And here is the best adapters i found From Newegg And Amazon:

I just want my usual 144hz on 1080p.

You should be fine then, but why not just go HDMI directly to the monitor if the monitor has an HDMI port?

because HDMI Don't support 144hz, i do have the same problem and i do think the same thing, and i do want my usual 144hz on 1080p, but the new graphics card won't support dvi, And i think HDMI to DVI wont give you 144hz, im not sure, So i would be good if there is an adaptar ( Display port -> DVI ) Works at 144hz.
