my friend asked if i had any old ram around, i said yes but i didn't know if it still worked. i came home and the pc turned on fine, i thought i might as well do it now so i turned the computer off. i mistakenly forgot to switch the pc off at the psu, but thought it would be okay so i pressed on installing the new ram (after turning off the pc). i put the new ram in and started the computer up and everything sounded the same, except nothing on either of my monitors. i try'd each of the 2 4gb sticks individually but still nothing. i put my working ram in (4 times 4gb) and turned on the pc and nothing. i have connected my laptop to both monitors and are sure they both work. i have try'd taking the mobo battery out and waited 30 secs and taken the ram out. i have disconnected the power button and turned the pc on with a screwdriver. i dont know what else to do because the only thing that has changed is my ram. i am assuming i have short circuited my psu or motherboard but the latter still has all the lights turn on and the boot speaker still works. the fans do not appear to slow down as usual so i dont think that the cpu temps are reaching the motherboard where the fan would slow down usually. any support would be appreciated as i am truly clueless now and i have tried everything i know of.
my specs are :
cpu: i7 3770k @4.2ghz (usually)
ram: 16gb kingston hyperx
psu: corsair 620w
gpu: gtx 980 windforce
1 2tb hard drive
1 500gb hard drive
cooler out of a old acer predator (brand new artic silver thermal paste)
would really love some help, going to try a bigger psu to see if that is a problem, thanks in advance to anyone who messages.
update: have try'd different psu (cs850w). still same problem, might be mother board.
if you have any suggestions please don't shy away, would love to hear someone elses opinion.
