Hey folks,

So I recently upgraded my 2700x to 3200MHz ram. Initially, my x470 CH7 board recognized it as only 2400MHz. So I changed the frequency in bios to 3200, which it now recognizes. However, my timings are really bad. They're supposed to be 14-14-14-34. Instead they are 16-22-22-52 lol. This probably isn't normal, right?

Solution
Yeah, DOCP should be what is used for accessing XMP profiles on an Asus AMD board, and you would select the appropriate profile for the 3200 speed from there.

If you can't get the profile working on your board, you might check what voltage your RAM suggests, as a lot of performance memory kits will suggest something like 1.35v, so it will probably need to be higher than 1.2v for stability. And also, you should have the option of setting the timings manually, even if you have to loosen them slightly from what the manufacturer suggests. If you are not using an XMP profile and the motherboard is left to select timings automatically, it is likely to select loose timings like you are seeing.

Is XMP the same thing as D.O.C.P. in bios? But yes actually, I did just set the target frequency to 3200 and didn't change anything...When I set both D.O.C.P. and target to 3200, the PC artifacted and ultimately wasn't running right so I had to reset. But I'm a novice in bios...was my voltage maybe too low for that? It was only at 1.2 I believe?

Yes, D.O.C.P is equivalent to XMP. If you enable the profile you should not have to touch any other memory settings. I'd try reverting all memory settings to default (can just clear your CMOS, unless you have made other changes to BIOS settings you'd like to keep), then enable the profile and see if that works. If it's still unstable you may be able to get it working by playing with voltages a bit.

Ok that's good to know lol. Everybody calls it XMP and I could not for the life on me find this "XMP" in the bios. So, set the D.O.C.P. to the 3200 profile, but don't change the target frequency setting?

Thanks guys! So Far it seems to be holding. I upped the voltage to 1.35 as mentioned just to be safe. But timings are at 14-14-14-34 as listed for this RAM!
