I watched a video on video editing and it said you should only store your videos on an ssd. I might get one. I still plan on using my 1tb hard drive. I only want to use the ssd for storing my videos. I have a SATA cable running from my case which only has 1 built into it, which runs to my mother board and uses 1 of the 4 SATA plug-ins. I am using on other one for my hard drive, so 2 of 4 are used right now. I have a few extra cables. Do I just need to use 1 other slot the runs from my motherboard to the ssd, which will use a total of 3 of the 4 plugins on my motherboard. So my question is for setting up the ssd In my pc do all I need to is plug the SATA from the motherboard to the ssd. I’m talking about the smaller one I realized that there a 2 cables called SATA and they both plug into the storage. My second question is if I’m using it only for storage, will I need to install a os on it or can I just turn my pc on and it will appear on documents? Sorry for the extremely long question it’s just hard to explain without having someone physically next to my pc and having me explain it to them.

1. You don't need to install an OS on it. It will be just like any other secondary drive.

2. It needs both the SATA data and power cables.
Data cable connects to the motherboard, power cable comes off the PSU.

3. It will "probably" just appear as a drive letter. In rare cases you need to go into Disk Management and Initialize, format, and give it a drive letter.
