Okay I gonna try to use words I understand!! Total newb here. Trying to get my old Dell to run better for the kids (Roblox!!). So here's where I am. Dell 560s, Windows 7. P4 Dual-Core E5500 @ 2.8. AMD Radeon R7 240 VC , 6 GB of Nanya PC3-10700 (667MHz)-According to CPU-Z. MB is a Dell 0K83V0. I added the VC and swapped out the RAM from 2GB and attempted to get 8 GB total.. I matched the speed, class, voltage, etc. from the previous RAM that was in there. I have 4 matching sticks of 2 GB, but computer will not boot with all 4 sticks. Each slot can only handle 2 GB. Will only work in first 3 DIMM's. My 4th slot seems FUBAR. Nothing will recognize in the 4th slot (used CPU-Z to confirm). I have the RAM in the correct slots with the MB I have according to the specs from Dell . So, at this point I am conceding the other 2 GB.

Here's the issue. Ive been tracking what little progress I have made using userbenchmark scans. It says my RAM is running poorly and to make sure XMP is enabled. I got into the BIOS but could not find anything to enable. Is it that generic and not an option? Obviously I dont need the best or fastest, but what I do have I want it to run the way it should. Just looking for opinions at this point or suggestions. Thanks!!

Well, I'm like 99% sure that motherboard only supports 1066-MHz DDR3 DIMM, so an XMP profile would not have the headroom to overclock.

When it comes to the slot that is not working, make sure to try it with just one stick if you haven't already. If it is not working and the others are, then it is probably a faulty slot. I did see a disclaimer that anything over 4Gb requires a 64 bit operating system, but since 6Gb are working, I'm going to assume you already have that.

I have tried just 1 stick in the 4th slot. No bueno. Wont boot. I do have a 64 bit OS. Like I said. I know this isnt a gaming rig by any stretch. I just want the 6 gigs to run as they should. Thanks!
