Not sure if this is possible, but here we go. Ubuntu is installed on my SSD which is in one partition for the entire drive. Is it possible to now split the drive into another partition while keeping the OS up and running to be able to install win10 on the new partition?

Would I just use resize volume option to bring it down from 250 to around 80gb and then use the free space to install win10?

Solution
You can do that for sure. Install Windows with "custom" options, and make sure you can boot Linux off recovery CD to repair the boot / GRUB after Windows nukes it.
