(can i just reinstall windows 10, if so will my programs and data be lost?) please help !

Reinstalling windows will delete anything you had on your windows partition.

Did you check to see if all the cables to the storage are properly plugged in?

Your storage may be dead. In that case you will have to replace it. Accessing data from it may work if you try to access it as a secondary disk (assuming it is not completely dead)

I am not able to check atm. If it changes anything it is an SSD and it is only about 8 months old as well, the PC was a new build, and truthfully I haven't done anything to strenuous on it (and have not moved it or opening it at all)

Is it common for an SSD to die so quickly. I do know that it does not recognise any SSD/HDD Nevertheless when I go home i will unplug it and put it back in. hopefully that solves it... if not I'm assuming all hope is lost and ill have to get a new SSD and reinstall windows ?

billy_ileris, try the drive in another unit and see if it is detected. Also, use this as a lesson in backing up your data.

The conventional wisdom by tech experts on backups is known as the 3-2-1 method. Basically you want:

3 copies of any data you don't want to lose
2 different mediums it's stored on (so 2 different drives in your computer, for example)
1 copy kept offsite, to prevent against disaster.

Also if you have any diagnostics full test on MB including memory? If you run the extended memory test with SSD connected. I know it does not recognize the SSD but running the memory test could self heal some sectors then reboot and see if it is recognized the 2nd try. This is long shot but at the very least you might see if the MB logic has any PCH/I/O failures.

I have very little experience with these things, I am not sure how to run an extended memory test from the BIOS ?
