I've bought a new SSD - specifically the Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 250gb SSD to replace my old Sandisk 2.5" sata3 120gb SSD.

The OS is on the old one. Can you guys help me out as to how I should transfer the OS to this new one without losing any data? Is there a way to just copy all the data from the older SSD to the new one and boot from there?

Thank you in advance

Samsung provides a free utility to do this

Scroll down to Data Migration Software
You can use the free Samsung ssd migration utility.
One caveat, you may need to first download the Samsung nvme driver to get the 970 device recognized.
Here is a link to both:

Hi guys,
I'm into this sitsuation too. I have the EVO 860 500GB and soon I'll get the NVME EVO 960 and I want to migrate my EVO 860 to new NVME, I heard and read about the samsung tool for this, but something is missing, when you make a fresh install of windows 10 it is split the primary sdd into 3 partition I think one is for windows (C) and the two others are for recovery and boot I thing EFI something.... what happened to them? they are nessacary for the windows or am I wrong? after this progress I want to set my EVO 860 as a secondery drive, format it and create 1 full partition from it... but I think the samsung tool does not do good enough what it suposed too.. can anybody please explain? thanks.

The migration aid takes care of the hidden recovery partitions.
When I did a similar move, I first installed the Samsung pcie nvme driver which you can download from Samsung.
Install the 960 and your move should run fine.
Change the boot order to the 960 and you are done.
You can do what you wish with the old drive.
I just removed it and now I have a proven good backup.
