■ Hello,

My name is toon and i have a question about my gaming laptops temps

Now when playing super heavy games like monster hunter world or no man's sky i reach 90 degrees on my cpu (undervolted cpu)

Specs gaming laptop (gl702 asus)

Gtx 1060 6gb
I7 7700hq
8gb ram
256 ssd (i think not sure)
1 tb internal storage

I have already hightend the laptop from the ground and undervolted my cpu i haven't aplied new thermal paste

My question is while playing i reach 90 degrees on my cpu the cpu doesn't throttle at all but i heard 90 degrees is terrible for the cpu but it doesn't even throttle like it doesn't lose performance is this ok? Wouldn't it throttle if 90 degrees was to much for the cpu? Should i be worried about these temps in the long run? Or should i not pay mind to it like is it just fine for the cpu to get this hot in a laptop?

As i know it's only bad if your games start slowinf down bcz of throttling wich it didn't do yet?

Thanks in advance for helping :)

Solution
Well 90 degrees is still considered safe but it does seem high since games are normally gpu intensive but it depends on what you play, i would try mess around with your games settings before you try anything else

in most builds 90 is where you should be worried. In gaming laptops it might be designed to go 90 and no more, to squeeze every little performance point from it. Check internet for this model, how temps were for other users.

its possible that hair or dust blocks vent or poor/wrong paste applied.
if you go for paste:

only this one for gaming laptop :) in my case it was 10*C less than default.
Strongest performer in non-conductive (lower risc you will fry whole laptop)

Thanks for responding so quick

Wel this series of laptops do tend to get hot but the performance is outstanding.

So i shouldn't worry about 90 degrees on my cpu? And just play without a care? My gpu gets around 80 degrees or 86 not sure but much lower then the cpu. A laptop gets hot i do know that but when should i be concerned that its all to hor for the cpu and possible other parts?

Are cpu's and gpu's build with a system that prevents them from getting to dangerous levels?

Sorry for the many questions i am just curious and i can always use the extra info also again thanks for responding so quick :)

Well yes, cpu's and gpu's tend to shut down at around 100 degrees to prevent damage to themselves but I would still clean your laptops vents and reapply thermal past just to be safe, but otherwise as long as it stays at 90 and under it should be alright. I also have a friend who has a similar gaming laptop and he experiences similar cpu temps and everything works fine for him.

Thanks great to know!
The laptop is fairy new like around 8 months now i am not the only one experiencing this.
I wil wait until my waranty is fully gone and then start applying some high quality thermal paste.
So even if it gets 90 degrees i should be fine for the years to come? I do game for long periods at a time i sometimes have 95c° but idk of thats still the case after the undervolt

Really thanks to respond.

You should be alright but dont forget to clean your vents or possibly tone down your games' graphics a bit if you want slightly lower temps
Anyway, good luck!
