Hi!
I want to buy a new work station but there are so many choices.
First one
-xeon e5-1607
-16 gb ram
- Nvidia quadro 2000

Second one
Intel i7-2600
16 gb ram
Nvidia gtx 750 ti (asus 2gb ram)

Third one
Xeon x5650
12 gb ram
Nvidia fx4800

What do you think the price is the same 300 euro.

The third one is easy to rule out--IIRC the CPU launched in 2008 and the GPU in 2010--but the other ones are closer in performance. Number one has a proper workstation CPU and GPU, and probably has ECC memory. I don't know of Xeon E5 system that doesn't, but double-check. This isn't an advantage so much in itself, but DDR3 ECC is very cheap secondhand. You could double the stock capacity for a little over 40USD/Euro. This may or may not be an advantage depending on where you are. I looked at ebay.fr, and prices are very similar to the US market.

However Premiere doesn't care whether you use a workstation (Quadro) or gaming (GeForce GTX) card. The 750 Ti in the second option is newer, faster, and has more memory. The i7-2600 is built on the same architecture, but is a bit faster than the Xeon.

So: the first is better-suited to workstation tasks and a bit more readily upgradeable. But the second will be faster right away.

I hope this helps.

Edit: I forgot that the Xeon E5 uses the LGA 2011 socket, and is compatible with some really powerful CPUs that are inexpensive to buy used and faster than the i7. Basically, if you have another hundred and fifty to upgrade the memory and processor, that would be the best option.

Thank you for your reply!
Now that i double checked the prices the first one costs 390 euro annd the second one costs 300 euro im thinking of geting the second one and investing those 90 euros.
I maybe would buy and ssd hard drive what do you think or should i invest in something else?

Also im just 17 years old maybe i would play some games in it and gtx is massively better in gaming right?

You should definitely get an SSD. Make sure you get a quality drive, with a DRAM cache (as opposed to an SLC cache). There's not much wrong with SLC caching for general purposes, but dealing with large files you'll absolutely want a nicer drive. It also might be worth getting pickier and finding one with MLC (Multi-Level Cell) flash (as opposed to TLC (Triple-Level Cell) flash). They can cost about the same, depending on the model. A nice 256GB SATA SSD should cost a bit more than 60 euros. You might be able to stretch to a ~500GB model, as long as you avoid the lower-quality drives.

Yes, the GeForce is better for games. It's not hugely powerful, but should play most of the games that run on the PS4 and XBox One.

The CPU is better, about as fast as the i7, with more cache.

The Quadro is slightly faster. It's still not great for games, but should suit your primary purpose. If you wanted to, you could sell it and get a decent older gaming card.

You'll still want to add an SSD. If you can do another sixty euros for an SSD, this is the build you should get.
