I know this is about a cell phone and not a computer but I hope someone can help me.
My wife and I just upgraded our cell phones to Samsung A8. We are both having the same problem with wifi on our phones when at home.
Both our phone will connect to the wifi but there is a ! in the wifi signal. Now I know that usually means that you are connected to the network but have no internet but here is where if gets screwy , even though there is a ! in the wifi we are connected to the internet and can access web pages, facebook, instagram ect... the only thing we can't seem to do is use google play .
This only happens at our home wifi, seems to work on other wifi i have tried. Our old phones , xbox, android box and tablets have no problems at all.
What I have done to fix the problem,
Soft rest my wifi router ( no change )
Forgot network on both phones , turned them off, soft rest the wifi router. Turned phones back on and connected to my network ( the ! vanished for about a minute on both phones then came back).
The other thing I have noticed is that every now and again for 30 seconds or so the ! will go away and the wifi signal looks normal but then it comes back.
Like I said, even though the wifi has a ! i can still connect to the internet and use it, just google play/store ect does not work.
Can anyone please help!

Thanks

Solution
the most common issue that causes this is 2 dhcp servers at home or an ip conflict with the gateway. check the gateway that your phone is using and see if it's the one configured in the intended router.

on android phones you will use your data if the wifi doesn't have internet access.

if you have an isp modem/router and another router plugged into that start there. the subnet should be different and the web admin page updated to be in the subnet on each. the last router dns should point to the first router. some routers block dns that aren't the one setup in it.
