So I bought this Opticover WiFi range extender https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-Extender-Internet-Signal-Booster/dp/B07GC51H3W/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 and have received this in the mail yesterday. I tried all day yesterday to no avail and still would not work. I got it working for a little bit and was able to watch a 4k YouTube video for a little bit until it stopped working. Since then, I could not even get it to connect at all. I tried going to http://ap.setup to run through the setup process online and still could not get it to work.

I tried using the WPS button on the extender for 6-8 seconds to go into pairing mode and I pressed the WPS button for 1-2 seconds on my router to pair with the extender, once that is complete, I was able to connect to the internet no problem on my laptop as soon as it is connected. But once I relocate it upstair, the internet stopped working and instead of a solid light, it becomes a flashing light. I tried different position on whether its AP Mode, or Router mode and a repeater mode. I tried connecting it to with the ethernet cable on both the LAN and WLAN port and still not getting internet.

Any kind of help would be appreciated! If anyone with a WiFi extender knowledge could help me! That would make my day.

If any solutions does not work I'm buying a 130 feet or 150 feet ethernet cable to wired from my modem to my desktop PC which is upstair in my house on the other side.

Presumably you bought this range extender, because the WiFi signal from the main router to your PC, 150 feet away, was not sufficient?
Where is this range extender? In the same location as the PC? If so, it is seeing the exact same failing signal as your PC did.

Hey thanks for info! After reading your comment. I was looking for a power outlet between the router and my PC. The only outlet I could find was just right outside of the office and I was able to get a decent connection to my PC upstair in my room because if I remember correctly, concrete wall have a hard time for signal to penetrate through so since we have an opening line of sight from the router to the outlet, I placed the extender in the hallway and then that actually extended my wifi signal! When connected to the regular wifi, I was only getting about 1-5 mbps, now when connected to the wifi extender, I am getting about 25-30mbps! What a huge difference! I can now watch 1080p and 4k video with almost no buffering!

Do you know if its possible if I can add another extender to extend the wifi even more and get more speed out of it? Like a repeater after repeater in order to keep the connection going? Or is the speed just going to most likely be the same but have a more stable connection if I add another repeater?

Nope you can only have 1 repeater in the chain. It is already a huge penalty with just the 1 since cuts the speed at least in half....speed related to where the repeater is located.

The pretty standard recommendation you see on threads like this is to use powerline devices instead. The av2-1200 devices are pretty fast in most houses.

Still unless it is a massive effort I would always opt for the ethernet cable option. One time pain and then it just works pretty much forever giving you full 1gbit speeds. Electronic stuff like repeaters have strange issues now and then

...a added comment. I suspect the speed problems are because it is using 802.11n at 300 802.11ac tends to have more bandwidth to start so you end up with more after the repeater. Of course 802.11ac only runs on 5g and that has much less coverage in some houses so it may not matter if the repeater can not get good signal and still transmit it to the end device.

Okay gotcha, then how is it that in big offices or school buildings, for instance my college, they have a wifi repeater of some sort and once I'm connected to the college wifi's is pretty much used the same everywhere else all over the campus. No need to change the wifi. I use the wifi at my college sometimes because there can be rooms that have dead zones like my boss's office which he has a dead zone for cellular data but not wifi cause he probably has a wifi repeater somewhere in the office.

They have multiple access points, hardwired to actual routers.
Not a daisychain of WiFi repeaters.

Hmm, good point. I'm a junior technician at my college gaining the work experience, and I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about technology so that I am not clueless about how each and different tech products work and what they do and what they are used for. Working as a technician is a great way for me to learn about technology because for me as a millennial, technology is evolving everyday. I'm majoring in CIS (Computer Information System).
