I usually build my desktops, but can't do this for a laptop. So i'm looking at new laptop for travel. Best price gives a choice between 1920 x 1080 @ 120hz versus 3840 x 2160 @ 60 hz, what's better for reading, programming & graphic design? Other specs include:

15 inch display
i7-8750H
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
256GB SSD + 1TB 7200RPM HD

I've looked in electronics stores, and just not sure. Any advice is appreciated.

The 120Hz option is really for high FPS scenarios. If you graphic design figures in that, then the 120Hz option might be best (assuming whatever you're doing can get more than 60fps from a GTX 1060).

Text, thin lines and edges ought to be sharper in 4K, but it's up to you and your eyes.

Without seeing them side by side in the scenarios you use them for, I'd opt for the least expensive of the two.
