Looking to have a little more memory to run processes.

I built a rig at the end of 2009 using the following for a mobo and ram:

GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD4P LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL Trident 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model F3-16000CL9D-4GBTD

Any suggestions on some cheap 4 or 8 GB stick(s) that I could add on the board? Or would picking up another 2x2GB set of used G.SKILL sticks just be easier?

Mobo spec is 4 slots; max 16GB total, which hints are 4 x 4GB at most, but I imagine the realistic max is 2 x 4GB, or 4 x 2GB. Running four slots might force speed reductions in the RAM.

The only RAM on the support list in a 4GB stick is Samsung 4GB M378B5273BH1-CF8, so two of those could suffice.

Crucial memory configurator throws up a few suggestions: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Giga-Byte/ga-p55a-ud4p

Given that Crucial has the as 'compatible', I'd take a peek at their RAM returns policy, and consider 2 x 4GB.

I wouldn't consider adding and extra two sticks to the original, unless they are identical part numbers.

Picked up 2 x 4GB

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL

Only had room for one of the 2GB, systems shows 10 GB total and runs so much smoother now.

Thanks!
