Hello everyone! So I am going to build a pc for gaming and at the moments these are the parts I have in mind:
-CPU Intel - Core i7-8700K
-CPU Cooler CRYORIG - H7 49.0
-Motherboard Asus - ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING ATX LGA1151
-Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000
-Storage Samsung - 860 Evo 1TB 2.5" SSD
-Video Card MSI - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card
-Case Phanteks - Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case
-Power Supply EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power
-Operating System Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit
I got the I78700k to have the ability to have that extra power later in the future when the rest of my set up is complete but at the moment I’m just playing games at 1080p 60hz. Nothing too crazy. My question to you is l: can you turn off overclocking so it doesn’t happen?
I would rather just have it use it’s turbo clock whenever games got heavy. My other question is since I’m also using this build for school, will the cpu be able to go under its base clock when doing something tiny like word or PowerPoint? I have seen that the I7 will do 35-50% on some heavy games but I’m just wanting to make sure it won’t have those numbers on something like word.
I’m very new to this so be more help the better. Thanks everyone!
