Hi I have an HP pavilion dv6 notebook running on windows 7 and it has the WiFi button next to the volume button but yet I cannot connect to any WiFi. Also in the taskbar it only shows the icon with the monitor and plug which is the LAN but not icon with the bars.

By network adapters it only shows the Realtek PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet one, but no sign of any wireless adapters.

Any solutions to this problem please? Thanks in advance

I believe the F10 key is used to enter the BIOS of an HP laptop upon startup.

To enter, turn on the laptop and immediately tap the F10 at a pace of twice a second. It should get you into the BIOS menu.

As for the WiFi module, if it's not listed it might need to be replaced. You might need to remove it to get the exact replacement part needed. Typically you can find them on Amazon or EBay for around $30. However, if the laptop is still under warranty, contact HP first.

The switch for the WiFi is on its own as the button can go blue or amber, but that is not the problem as the problem is I don't see any other adapters under Network Adapters besides for the Realtek PCI Ethernet one.

*facepalm*

Yeah, yours, not the OP. Sorry about that.

Anyways, if the WiFi module isn't showing up is either an Other Device or Network adapter, chances are that either the WiFi module is bad, or most likely disabled in BIOS.

Go into the BIOS settings and validate that it's enabled.
