works but i need help i want to listen and talk through earbuds but as far as i know i can only do one or the other google is no help either

You can do both unless you are using earbuds without a mic or you are connecting to something that needs an adapter which you are not using. Would help if you provided some details about brands and models of what you are using since there is no way to answer your post as it is.
