Dedicated graphics card

Solution
The motherboard does have a PCI Express x 16 slot. That is all that is necessary for a dedicated graphics card. The next question is whether the power supply is sufficient to run the prospective graphics card. But a GTX 1050 would work depending upon space allowed in the case for a graphics card. A low profile graphics card may be needed.

Thanks, from what I gather reading the specs it only has a 180w power supply...not sure if I can upgrade that as during my googling I've come across mention of having to purchase some type of adapter. I'm really only trying to play state of decay 2 and dead frontier 2 so that video card would meet the recommendations.

I'm going to open her up tho and check the PSU myself tho.

Ahh okay. Yeah I checked; it is only 180W. Will do. I got the PC for free so it's worth shelling out some extra cash on upgrades to fit my minimal gaming needs.

180 watt PSU is to tight for GTX 1050, it would be beneficial to upgrade to 240 watt https://www.amazon.com/B240NM-00-AC240EM-00-HU240AM-00-L240AM-00-H240EM-00/dp/B07CVTJZD2/ref=sr_1_18?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1535520118&sr=1-18&keywords=power%20supply%20dell%20optiplex%207040&tag=tomshardware_forum_vgl-20 Then you can put GTX 1050TI https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Profile-Graphics-ZT-P10510E-10L/dp/B06XHZ29N5
