Vega 56 (64) memory overclock issues, throttling itself?

Hi everyone!

I have an issue with my Vega 56 (flashed to 64). It seems to be throttling itself on the memory clock bouncing back and forth between 800Mhz (stock) and my OC clock. The card itself is stable and can be run at 1100Mhz w/o crashing for a prolonged time (although it bounces back and forth. But it seems it doesnt want to stay at P3 (Max) for the memory.

This gives me some framedrops occasionally, as the activity (usage) for the card is directly linked (see picture) to the Mem clock. Not sure why it does this. My powerlimit is at +50%.
The other weird fact is that sometimes it runs stable as seen in the picture. But at other times it does not.

My CPU is a ryzen 2700x = not bottlenecking the GPU.

With undervolting and a 2.5% increase in core clock it will boost to 1700MHz, but it doesnt stay stable. I want to fix the memory before fiddling too much on the Core.

Thank you for your time.

On the pic you sent, the temperatures looks fine (69 degrees)

if it thermal throttling the answer is simple, reduce overclock / up the fan curve.
Could be a non stable overclock.

Could be also psu struggling to power the card.
What's you psu model and wattage?

Hello dextermat!
Temps are good indeed, so throttling might be the wrong word to use... Well it can and will sometimes hold the mem-clock stable at 1090MHz, but the bouncing back and forth is the main issue.

I have a Corsair RM1000 so its not starving power.

Here's a pic from HWMonitior: https://imgur.com/LuNk8pY
It draws 235W after about 15 mins of Unigine Valley and 100% utilization!

Edit: After 1h of gaming, the max power draw is now 273W. Which makes more sense since the original 56 bios is locked at 250W if I remember correctly..
