Hello guys,
I checked my motherboard's tech specs and it does have the pci-e x16 Gen 3 slots.

Mobo: MSI X99A Gaming 7
CPU: i7 5820k

I just wanted to confirm that the MSI RTX 2070 is compatiable with this mobo and CPU.

It seems that if I just wait 1 month then I can get the RTX 2070 instead of the GTX 1070. Any advice on which one I should get would be great.

Thank you very much for your time.

I can't see any reason as to why the 2070 would not work in your system. Your psu should be overkill for its purposes. As to whether you should go for a 1070 or 2070 is really up to you-just keep in mind that the pricing difference between the two will be quite significant especially at launch.

Your slot on the board will accept the card however we don't know what the make and model of your PSU is nor it's age. Power would be your other factor to account for in your build, no withstanding the cases dimensions and possible height restrictions.

PSU is : Corsair HX1000i
PSU Age : 2 years 6 months

Case is: NZXT Phantom 530

Case is full tower and PSU should have massive room for additional power draw. (When I monitor with the Corsair Link, the power draw with the existing 970 is around only 350-400W max for my usage.)

Kindly let me know what you think and if there's anything that should be checked and considered.

Regarding the 1070 vs 2070 question, I was thinking why invest in an outgoing, 2-years old outdated platform (1070),
while the 2070 will be future proof for another 2 years and also provide improved performance for my rendering work.

Nice note on the price at launch factor, I will make sure to notice it.

Thank you very much for your time and answer.
