NO Keyboard Detected!

So recently, out of nowhere my PC can no longer detect my Mouse and Keyboard. When I boot it up I can a screen that says "AMERICAN MEGATREND" with general info of my PC's components and at the bottom, it says "NO Keyboard Detected!". I have a Razer M&K and whenever they're connected they light up, but not anymore.

Trying to find an answer on the Internet, many people say that it is a driver issue with Windows and to boot into your BIOS because it uses a different driver or something like that but no. I can't boot into BIOS because well.. my keyboard isn't being detected.

I have also tried connecting my M&K to the other USB ports but still nothing. I also made sure the ports were working by connecting my USB mic and my phone. They all work, the red light on my mic lights up and my phone begins to charge.

Both my M&K work because I connected then to my laptop and was using them there with no issue at all.

The only way I'm able to enter BIOS is by disconnecting all my drives and it'll automatically go there when I turn on the PC. Even then I can't do anything.
So what can I do to fix this problem?
I'm believing it's my motherboard that's the issue but who knows.

I have a custom built PC by the way.

Here's a link to my build

My motherboard is an ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-E BIOS version 0615

At this point im scratching my head. Think you're just going to have to reinstall. If you have a spare hdd you could use to test a reinstall with might be an idea instead of losing your data. If you do install windows on another hdd, disconnect your current one first or any others that are connected so Windows doesn't alter and put boot loader files on them.

what model Razer?

If they're both working elsewhere and your usb ports are confirmed working (perhaps try with a standard m&k to be sure) then my guess is problem lies with a setting maybe? a switch on the Razer combo not being recognised by your system? I don't know what m&k model you have so can't really look into it in detail but if your keyboard has nkro mode try turn it off.

Can you boot to Windows with the troubled PC? Or it wont let you without a keyboard? Because a laptop has a keyboard obviously but that might be the reason why the laptop is booting to windows if your PC isn't.

I have a Razer blackwidow v2 and a Razer naga Trinity. Also I should of mentioned that I do have an extra standard m&k as well. They're both Logitech and wireless but still no luck.

Yes I can I boot into Windows just fine. I end up in my lock screen but I can't log in (obviously).

If it's a setting then what could it be? Something in the BIOS? Or Windows? I hardly touched the BIOS from when first built the PC. As for Windows, I don't mess with too many settings either. Only I time I really did was when I first built it a few months back. And like I said at first this happened all of a sudden. I was just using my PC like normal, (gaming, internet surfing, etc) and the next day when I turn it on.. Well yeah..

Try to reset bios if you can by clearing cmos.

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?100548-All-USB-ports-not-working-after-restart-

Appears to be a common problem, a coincidence maybe. Not sure how software can indirectly affect bios code to prevent basic usb function during post. If it is software related done via MS updates it might be possible to undo but need to find out what update caused it if is the reason though. Seems people have got usb c to work with an usb adapter to work so seems like if there is software causing this problem it isn't affecting usb-c.

I'll keep looking and post if i find anything. Do you have a usb c to usb from a phone or something?

Thanks for the link to the thread, I'll try to do the cmos reset and see how that goes. And yes I do have USB c to USB a cable.

So I cleared the cmos and reset my BIOS but that didn't help. So now I'm stuck on the "American Megatrend" screen asking me see press F1 to start the setup while it still says "NO Keyboard Detected!"

Just tried that and no luck. If there's nothing more I can try then I guess I'll need to rma the board.

Ok update.

So it somehow started working again like normal. Well kinda. Both my M&K were plugged into the board's USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports even though I normally had them on the USB 2.0 ports. The keyboard was connected into the USB C port via an adapter and the mouse into the regular USB A port.

So I took that chance to update some drivers did some restarts as well as the bios (it's now version 1002). Windows 10 also seemed to have updated too which required a restart but no issues.

However, when I first attempted to download the bios update and put it on a flash drive, oddly enough windows wasn't detecting that I had connected a USB drive into it. So I did a quick search and came up an article saying to go into device manager and update the USB drivers though there. It asked for a restart (which I did since previous restarts from updates I just did didn't cause any issues) and what do you know.. I'm back to square one..

It wasn't as bad since after a couple of restarts, unplugging and plugging the mouse and keyboard into different ports, the keyboard and only the keyboard worked.. Kinda. It lit up like usual during boot up but turned off when it loaded up windows. While it still sucks I at least can boot up into BIOS and navigate through it. I decided to update the BIOS via internet and it updated just fine but the results are the same. Only the keyboard turns on but not for Windows.

I should also note that my keyboard is currently connected to the USB A 3.1 gen 2 port. The type C port isn't picking it up anymore.

Any suggestions I can do in BIOS to possibly solve this? If I have to wipe everything I'm perfectly fine with it as long as it fixes it.
