Looking to overclock my monitor. I know there are guides out there, but I figured asking would help me get a more specific answer for this monitor. Right now I have it running at it's stock 75 hz. How much do you think I could overclock, and would it be safe/stable? Really cannot afford to get another monitor. Thanks in advance. Here is the link to the monitor I have. https://www.amazon.com/Sceptre-C278W-1920R-DisplayPort-immersive-Curvature/dp/B071JJ8V4S

Or the AMD equivalent in the radeon software, doesn't matter.

I overclocked an old bottom of the barrel Acer 1080p 60hz screen to 73hz (wouldn't go any higher) and left it like that for years and never had a problem. My friend has it now but back at 60hz, still works today as far as i know.

Well when you say that you really cant afford another monitor, I am hesitant to recommend you overclock it. I have never damaged or heard of anyone damaging a monitor with an OC...

What are you using to OC it? Nvidia control panel? It will go as high as it goes, if you go too high it will likely go black and say say out of range or unsupported signal or something like that, don't touch anything and wait the 30 seconds or whatever it is to revert back to 75hz. There is no safe range I can give you for that specific monitor, it may not overclock at all. I have never had an issue OCing a monitor however it does increase heat slightly and is a bit of a risk. One you may not want to take if there is no way you can get another monitor.

And also , Everytime you have overclocked a monitor, you've never had it die after awhile or result in any issues? I won't take the chance if it's dangerous but it seems everyone on the internet says it could be a risk but nobody has ever actually damaged monitor.

But if I was in your position I probably wouldn't demand something of my monitor that it wasn't necessarily built to do. Espcially if you can only get like an extra 5hz out of it.

If you do decide to do it I would try display port . Your cable choice can actually affect how far it will overclock.

I am using the display port. Thanks for your feedback. I'll overclock it and see how far it goes. I'll try to moderate how much o overclock and if it's even necessary. Thanks allot.

I have the same monitor. I overclocked it using Nvidia Control Panel only to find it goes up to 80hz and after a couple of seconds, the screen started flickering intensely. I would not recommend OCing the monitor. You can't even tell the difference.
