Guys, does anyone has an experience with Cougar Gaming 400W VTE400 - 80+ Bronze PSU? Is it good or bad? I was about to buy Seasonic Eco 430w but this PSU caught my attention, because it's cheaper and has a quite recognisable brand. Should I buy this or Seasonic Eco 430w?

Cougar is basically the retail brand for HEC (the OEM for other PSUs aswell). So it's definitely not an unknown brand.
That said, it's never a good idea to solely choose a PSU by brand. Every brand will some sell low end, overpriced, or flawed products.

A PSU is bad until proven otherwise, especially at this low price. From the specs, it's missing OTP and only DC-DC for the 3.3V rail. Here is the best review we got: https://i2hard.ru/reviews/obzor-i-testirovanie-bloka-pitaniya-cougar-vte-600w/
The review doesn't go in-depth enough to be reliable, IMO.

For the price, ~650,000 RP, I recommend the Be Quiet System Power U9. Better than both the Cougar VTE and Seasonic Eco.

I've never used one of their products, and I doubt I would either.

PSU failure could potentially take every other component with it. Therefore I always go with a reputable brand and well reviewed model.

I have used cougar fans and a case. They are a fine middle budget brand when it comes to that. Their power supplies are decent quality. They are built by HEC. They make some power supplies for evga and other major brands (fractal and be quite. I think).

I agree with kashimi and would go with a seasonic, cosair or whatever. But if you have lower end parts and want a budget friendly powersupply I assume it fine. It's not going to be burn your house down cheap.

Could you explain it more about why Be Quiet System Power U9 is better than Seasonic Eco 430? Because I couldn't find it on the PSU tier list :D Btw what do you think about the Be Quiet System Power 8 500w?

My spec will be (still uncertain):
Pentium G4560 @$49
MSI H110M Pro-VH Plus @37
8GB DDR4 @47
Sapphire RX 560/RX 460 2GB @91/74
Kingston A400 240GB SSD @52
(Possibly) Seasonic Eco 430w/ Be Quiet System Power U9 400w @44
Case @33
Total: $353/336 (RX 560/460)

All components are new except the GPU (but it still has a warranty)

If I change it to an i3 8100 build, it will be:

I3 8100 @$111
ASrock H310M-HDV @64
8GB DDR4 @47
Sapphire RX 560/460 2GB @91/74
PSU @44
Case @33
Total: $390/373 (Using 320GB HDD from my old PC from 2012)

I used the cheapest price from each individual items I could find.
And btw my budget is $355 (I'm still a student)

What about the Be Quiet System Power 8 500W? Is it better or worse than System Power U9?
