I currently have a 1050ti and am planning to get the Sony X9000F soundbar. My TV does not have ARC and I wasn't planning to use it anyways cause you basically can't use atmos on it. My 1050ti has 1 HDMI port and 1 DisplayPort. I'd like to connect the HDMI port to the soundbar. Then use a DisplayPort to HDMI which then goes to the tv. Does that work?

Does it also work where I use one HDMI out from the GPU to the HDMI in of the soundbar? Then use the HDMI out of the soundbar to the tv?

Solution
Just use your last option, that sound bar has multiple hdmi inputs

1050to to hdmi in on sound bar.
Hdmi out on sound bar to tv.

Anything else is just overcomplicating things for no reason.

its possible to do that, audio and video signals can be separated, but u may have issue with blank screen when u use hdmi for audio only from GPU, that will depends on if that hdmi will act as main monitor or not
usualy bios have some predefined keyboard button (tab key on ami) for switching between displays and in windows u can use win+p with arrow up/down keys + enter to switch between displays

So talked to Nvidia. They said to just do what madmatt30 said which is 1050ti to HDMI in on soundbar and then HDMI out on soundbar to the tv. Apparently, that's the only option for atmos right now... Until earc comes out. I guess I'm okay with a little extra latency. It can't be that bad right?

Im running into an atmos amp the same way with a gtx 970.
There is added latency, its not massive though, using rockband on xbox as a test it added 0.2ms latency,

Nvidia are wrong though ,you could split gpu outputs as per your original idea - I just think its unnecessary personally & an untidy solution.
