How does a lavalier microphone's sound quality compare to a gaming headset's microphone? (specifically steelseries arctis lineup)

also, can it be used for applications like discord? like will it function like a regular microphone? the ones im looking at use a 3.5mm connectors, when i plug the mic into my laptop will my laptop recognize it as an extra recording device just like the mic on a gaming headset?

Take the word "lavalier" out of the equation.

"Does a $7 microphone rival that of a gaming headset's? "
Maybe, maybe not.

You could convert any mic into a "lavalier", with an alligator clip and a touch of superglue.

im referring to lavaliere microphone as a whole like how will a cheapo lavaliere microphone stand against a gaming headset's mic. because gaming headsets are somewhat known for having terrible sounding microphones

Does a $7 lavalier microphone rival that of a gaming headset's?
