PC powers up, turns off for 2 seconds, then boots successfully.

Hi folks,

I have just completed a shiny new build but ran into a big problem right after I press “Power on”. When I press the power button, the pc turns on for 2 seconds then automatically turn itself off for like 2 seconds; then it automatically turns on again and this time boots to Windows 10 successfully. Everything is working normal in Windows.
After using it for a while, if I turn it off and turn on again (not reset), it won’t happen. It only happens the first time I turn on my computer everyday (or at least that what I have been observing).

I have tried to reset UEFI BIOS to default, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Thank you very much.

"The booting on, off and then back on again is normal behaviour and can happen on plenty of systems and is not an issue in itself. Initially when you boot it on it quickly trains in the memory settings and other details turns off and performs a restart. It does not need to redo this as such until you fully power down your PC from the wall.

Dual booting is entirely normal in itself, happens in some cases, not others. Having it is not an issue in itself, happens on one of my systems also."

I have seen this in a solved question.
It happens also in one of my pc. The oldest one

Hi gingerrankin,
Thanks for your detailed answer.

So looks like it is not a big issue. But when I tried to contact ASUS they said it might be an issue with the motherboard and I should contact the retailer for RMA.

I was wondering if I should do so because the RMA process involves a lot of hassle and I wouldn't have my PC for a while (at least 2 weeks). That's why I am not too sure if its worth the wait.

Does it have any detrimental effect on the system in the long run?

thanks.
