Guys:

I haven't done this for while so bear with me. I'm trying to upgrade my desktop to a high-end workstation. I do development and testing so I'll be running multiple VMs on this box. I chose the following CPU:

Intel Core i9-7900X Processor
Socket LGA 2066
Compatibale with Intel X299 Chipset

But I'm really behind on the motherboard technology. So can someone suggest a mobo for it?

I have the following requirement:

- I will need multiple internal SATA ports. I currently have 6 SSD drives that I'm planning to bring to this new system, and hopefully get another one. So I'll need to be able to plug them in internally. So the more SATA ports it provides the better.

- I now have a 4 monitor setup which I'd like to keep. (But I guess that will be resolved by a video card, right?)

Anyway, any suggestions for a mobo would be appreciated.

You forgot to mention where you're located, what you budget is for the motherboard's we'll need to suggest and where you'd like to source the board from(preferred purchase site)...?

How many monitors you can run will depend on the GPU you use to drive said monitors, the board will only provide a communication medium between the processor and other devices connecting to the board.

Yeah, sorry. I'm in US. Amazon or Newegg would be good. I've been doing the research the whole day yesterday and here's what I come up with so far:

I picked this mobo for it: GIGABYTE X299 AORUS GAMING 7 PRO

It was hard to get the exact specs off the Amazon site, but I think it has support for 8 SATA internal ports and 3 internal M.2 connections that I can use for the disk drives.

I chose GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 to drive the screens. It looks like it supports 4 monitors, doesn't it?

And for the screens it will be 4 of the Acer G6 G276HL Gbd 27-Inch connected via DVI cables. I'm guessing I will also need x3 DisplayPort to DVI cables like this one (since the video card has only 3 DP ports) and then the DVI-D to DVI cable for the 4th.

Am I on the right track here?
