Decided to go nuts and water cool my two 1080ti cards using the kraken g12. Was reading some forms and people suggested using an adapter from the gpu to the fan it's basically a mini 4 pin to pwm 4 pin apaptor. I figured this would work the same as the original fans and operate when needed and speed up and slow down as required.

So got it all set up and working. What I have found though is the fan runs full tilt continually gpu temp is 20oC yet the fan is running at 2500rpm.

Cpuid is showing it running at any temperature.

Tried msi afterburner but it no longer let's me control the fan speed.

Otherwise it's a bloody great mod and I'm not looking forward to pulling the thing apart to attach the fans to the motherboard. That's the last resort.

I would prefer that the gpu controlled the fan.

Any ideas?

So I finally worked out what the issue is. The fan supplied is a 3 pin fan the gpu regulates fan speed by pwm only. So it must be a 4 pin fan to let the gpu control the speed. Bad news is I have to pull the whole thing apart to replace the fans as they attach from the inside. Oh joy.

So anyone playing on doing this mod if using the adapter for the gpu make sure you use a 4 pin 92mm fan.
