Ive been using an HDD in my computer for about 4 years and have seen the performance and speed drop heavily and was wondering if an SSD would be a good investment. I have been looking at the Samsung 860 EVO 1TB. My current MB is a ASRock - H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 and figured the two would be compatible but thought I'd double check. In general I want to know if the SSD would be a good investment or just wait to build a new computer in a few years (PC is 4 y/o) and save my money.

Yes it's compatible and yes it is a good investment in my opinion. It doesn't really matter when you buy it, the SSD could be reused in a future build.

I have been using an SSD only system for a few years now and I couldn't imagine going back. Systems that have windows installed on a 7200rpm or lesser HDD just feel sluggish to me now, apps feel slow to open, game load times in some more modern games are absolutely ridiculous on an HDD, windows boot time is slow, etc.

I was going to put everything onto the SSD so I don't need to delete a majority of my files and get below 500GB to transfer the data over from HDD to SSD.
