What do you think about my PC build?

Hi guys,

I'm new to building PCs and just wanted your thought on this build. I just wanted to make sure none of the components are incompatible or there are any obvious bottlenecks in the system. I'd appreciate any advice on how to improve this build. I'm looking to use it for gaming (Battlefield 5 etc) and build on a budget,

This is my build:
- Cooler Master CM 590 III ATX Case Black
- Intel Core i7-8700K Desktop Processor 6 Cores up to 4.7GHz Turbo Unlocked LGA1151 300 Series 95W
- ASUS PRIME Z370-A LGA1151 DDR4 DP HDMI DVI M.2 USB 3.1 Z370 ATX Motherboard with USB 3.1 for 8th Generation Intel Core Processors
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15)
- Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1 Tb
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Kind regards,

Mark

make sure case inner size won't conflicts CPU cooler tall height, if your display is below 4K res then should be solid build, 8600K be a better choice for gaming focused so you can spend more bucks for big air cooler such as noctua nh d15s or dark rock pro 4 (most games won't use more than four cores), two 4GB RAM 3200 CL 16, fast storage = faster scenes loading + game's file saving, rather than 860 EVO, I'd choose intel 660p M.2.

Invest on pricey Titanium grade PSU (EVGA t2, Seasonic prime ultra), lower electric bill and longer life span as whole.

I'd ask you to pick out a DDR4-3200MHz ram kit(2x8GB) to get that sweet spot from the platform. You forgot to include the make and model of your PSU. If it's a recycled unit, you may want to mention it's make and model and it's age.

You sure you don't have access to other ATX cases? I would suggest looking at the Fractal Design range of cases or from Phanteks. Might I ask where you're located, how much your build costs and where you'd like to purchase the parts from if we're allowed to tinker with your build?

Hi,

Thanks for your message. The PSU is an Antec 900 watt which is 5 years old. Yeah, I thought the case didn't really matter too much (I don't care too much about appearance). Any reasons Fractal or Phanteks would be better? I'm living in Melbourne and trying to keep it below $1500 (preferrably less). I'm looking to buy parts off amazon as it is so much cheaper than anywhere in Australia.

Cheers

I'd get a 120gb or so boot drive and a 1-2tb hard drive(7200rpm) and get a 1070 instead of the 1060.And maybe you should consider buying a 1080 used if you find a good enough deal and if you're comfortable with buying 2nd hand hardware. And an 8600k is a good cpu to go with instead of an i7.
