I am planning to build a cheap 2nd hand Xeon gaming system. This will save me some bucks and i will put em in a GTX 1080ti / RTX 2080 / RTX 2070 (Depends on availability of course). But i am not sure if this combo will work :(

Also i want to try my hands on overclocking it.

Anyone who have something similar or have any tips on this, please help!

Thanks a ton!!

That's quite a bit of money for such a low end system really. Also that ram is ecc and will not work in that board.

You are planning to pair this system with a 1080ti or up? A x3470 (same as an I7 920 really) can go up to a 1060 max before serious bottlenecking starts to happen.

I plan to put a 1070ti minimum. Can you please tell me which xeon can handle that without bottlenecking ? I was thinking if i can save some bucks from a xeon system to put into the card. Dont have a very big budget.

You want to save on 1 part but the problem is that you'll end up with an unbalanced system that will hold back the 1070ti and make it perform most of the times like a 1060. On that platform unless you can get some really good overclocks (that board is NOT a good overclocker) you'll have a bottleneck regardless of the cpu you choose.

I recommend looking into a newer system. There are often use dell tower with I7 4770's and whatnot in it it for around 300$. Then you put in a new psu and you are good to go with the 1070ti.
