Hey guys, I recently got a new GPU (GEForce GTX 1060) to upgrade my tower so I can run games much better, but I ran into a problem that has me really freaked out.

I'm not terribly experienced with computer stuff, but I am great at following directions (which is how I was able to build it with no problems about 5 years ago), so I just don't know what went wrong.

As soon as I inserted the new GPU, and plugged in the 6 prong power adapter into the power supply SATA (i believe it's called) plug routing from my PSU, I tried turning on my computer and I heard a spark, smelled buring, and saw a small puff of smoke come out of what appeared to be the PSU, and now it won't start. During my research, It didn't seem like a beefed up PSU would be necessary (I have a corsair tx550m), but do you think that might be the problem? I plugged my old GPU back in and it booted up, but I couldn't get the GPU to display with either my HDMI or DVI ports on my monitor, so i couldn't see what was on the screen, but it sounded like my computer was running extra hard, as it was being very loud.

Did I ruin my new GPU? is it a power supply problem? I have no clue what I did wrong, and I feel like I just wasted a lot of money just to ruin my computer. Any help would be appreciated
