Hello, I'm having issues with the 5Ghz connection on 2 out of 4 of my WiFi adapters. On 5Ghz I'm only getting download speeds of 5-8Mbps, while on 2.4Ghz I'm getting speeds of 40-45Mpbs. I'm using Windows 10, I have downloaded and installed the correct drives and have tried the adapters on multiple computers. Other 5Ghz WiFi adapters that I have running on the same network are getting the full and correct speeds. Any suggestions?

How far are they from the router? 5GHz provides faster data rates at a shorter distance. The shorter waves used by the 5 GHz band makes it less able to penetrate walls and solid objects. 2.4GHz offers coverage for farther distances, but may perform at slower speeds.

Welcome to the world of strange issues with wifi. There are few things you can do with wifi, it is locked up pretty tight by fcc regulations to prevent abuse. You have already tried the standard update the drivers and there is not a lot more you can do.

If it is a USB adapter you can try things like USB extension cable hoping to get more signal away from the computer. If it is PCI type then you are limited. They make antenna extension cables but they are rather expensive and may not resolve the problem.

It can also just be a poor quality nic. I see people post here all the time these off name nics they get from ebay or amamzon from companies shipping directly out of china.

I had been advised to change my channel bandwidth to 40mhz-80mhz but the modem/router my service provider offers(Home Hub 3000) doesn't have that option. So I went back to using my previous router and I'm receiving the correct download speeds again.
