Hello,

I am ordering parts for my new build this week and I am having difficulty finding memory that is compatible with this MB that isn't outrageously expensive. I want to buy 2x8GB G.Skill 3200 CL 14. The QVL on Gigabyte's website has only 2 G.Skill and they are only for 32 and 64 GB. Has anyone tried any G.Skill 3200 CL 14 that is not on this list and works 100%? Thanks!

FYI - this is my build sans memory:

Those Gskills CL 14 use Samsung chips. Ryzen is best paired with Samsung and not so much with Hynix memory although bios support has improved, Samsung's is still the way to go for Ryzen.

Good choice on memory, you'll be fine.

QVL is Qualified Vendor List, not Qualified Ram List. There's only a few actual ram OEMs, and they'll make ram for all the vendors, such as Samsung makes the ic's that go on the G-skill C14 RipJaws and Trident-Z. Samsung actually supplies a good chunk of the 3200 or greater speed ic's. So chances are very good that the ram in question has already been tested under a different brand.

If all ram sizes, models, series, speeds, colors were tested for a QVL, it'd be 1000's of pages long, take 1000's of manhours to compile and cost the company a fortune. So they pick a decent selection from multiple sources and call it a day.

Hey so I have a very similar build, so there will be no compatibility issues with the motherboard? I had ordered gskill ripjaws ddr4 3200 c16, but I am worried my computer will not boot or will BSOD or something. I am ordering the same x470 mobo, but a ryzen 5 2600 instead of the 2600x.

cas Latency 16, Timing 16-18-18-38, Voltage 1.35V,

Not sure if that helps

I'm just using CL16 3200mhz G.skill trident Z RGB

Profile detected with my Z390 Aurus ultra motherboard no problem.

Only problem I've had is the god awful lighting software.

I wanted my motherboard lights to cycle color but the memory to use the gradiant rainbow effect. The Gigabyte rgb software doesn't have the gradiant rainbow effect for memory so I had t download G.skills software. The problem is anytime I booted into windows, the rainbow effect I set in G.skill (i think its actually the default color settings) vanishes.

What worked was I installed Asus Aura, which has the same settings as G.skills software of course it doesn't detect the motherboard.

Forgot what I pressed now, but it seems to have worked because now when I boot into windows the effect I set stays.
