Should i upgrade my msi gtx 970 gaming x to a zotac gtx 1060 amp edition or it is not a descent upgrade?

you get max 15% more fps.
Going from 970 to 1060 6GB is a waste of money.
970, 980, RX580 and 1060 6GB are all quite near to each other.
Forget it!

+1 to guanyu, the 1060 is crearly better but its performance is just too close.

So should i go with a 1070 and there is any difference between the founders edition and the zotac and msi and asus?

The difference is poor and noisy cooling for the Founders Edition (just a single fan) and best performance in the custom ones.

Founder edition and all other cards with similar cooling design (single fan, blowing air out of the case):
Pros: If your PC case has not so good air flow, this is the better pick.
Cons: The graphic card is not well cooled and it is noisy as hell. For most cases, this is not the best to choose.

Custom solution (multiple fans, blowing air inside the case):
Pros: the graphic card is better cooled and not that noisy. This is the best solution for most cases.
Cons: if the case air flow is bad, this solution will warm the other components more.
