Asus p8z77-m sound won't work?

My computer won't play any sound from the motherboard, it can play sound out of the hdmi cable (my screen) but it won't play anything when i plug the cable in (both in front and back) I have all the drivers installed and is usind the right realtek HD audio manager/driver, please help??

Did you remember to set the default playback device to the soundcard? It can have various names andmight actually be called speakers or headphones, depending on what it things you have connected.
