How much RAM should stay available when running Lightroom and Photoshop

Hi all,
I have a Dell laptop with i7 8550U processor and 8GB of RAM connected with external 2K monitor.
When I edit photos in Lightroom and Photoshop (running them at the same time) available RAM sometimes goes to only 350 MB, but it usually stays between 1.5 and 2.5 GB. I've noticed that Lightroom workflow slows down a lot, especially when using brushes. After using brushes on a few photos, the screen goes black even there's (sometimes) around 1GB of RAM available.
I'm thinking of buying 16 GB of RAM, but I don't know if I'm going to see a noticeable difference since Lightroom seems to be slow even when there's 1.5-2.5 GB of RAM available.

Thanks in advance for answers.

The 8GB of RAM is insufficient for your computer specs. I would highly recommend upgrading RAM to 16GB. Lightroom and photoshop will work better, as they process raw profiles, filters and brushes can slow down a little bit. So upgrading RAM is a good option to fast up the process.

Thanks for the answers.
I bought 16 GB. The available RAM after the upgrade is usually at about 3GB with only LR and PS running.
It's definitely worth it, so if anyone else has the same doubt, just go for it.
