Bought a GTX 1080 and it's no longer posting.

Hello all.

I have just replaced my GTX 970 with a GTX 1080. I had the new 1080 in my system for about 1 hour, and it was running fine. I installed the latest Nvidia Drivers and then restarted the PC. Upon restarting the PC my fans went to 100% load and now won't post.

My GTX 970 runs fine and posts like normal.

Any idea what I could do as it was running fine for one hour?

Jamie.

Hello mate, thanks for the response. To answer the question, I'm using a GOLD G1 EVGA 650w.

However I have found the issue myself, so posting the answer for others in case they run into a similar issue.

The GTX 970 has 2x6pin power connectors, but the GTX 1080 has 1x8pin power connector. I did not remove the second power connector from the PSU, so I assume it was having trouble knowing where to send the power so kept tripping.
